Snow Emergency – Red Travel Warning Advisory

Pursuant to Indiana Code 10-14-3-29, The Fayette County Commissioners declared a Red Warning Travel Status Advisory for January 6th, 2025, effective until further notice, but not longer than seven (7) days.

Definition: A Red Travel Warning Advisory constitutes the highest level of local travel restriction. During a Red Warning, travel may be limited to essential personnel involved in emergency response operations.

Individuals are advised to:
• avoid all non-essential travel.
• Adhere to all necessary emergency directives.
• Cooperate fully with public officials and emergency services personnel in the execution of emergency response plans.
• comply with the lawful directions of properly identified officers.

The paramount objective of this travel advisory is to prioritize public safety and ensure our emergency services vehicles, City Street Department, and County Highway Department can clear roads without the congestion of other vehicles in efforts to make them safe for travel.

The Mayor of the City of Connersville, Chad Frank, and the three Fayette County Commissioners, President Dale Strong, Dale Munson, and Tracie Bever jointly affirm that during a Red Travel Warning we recognize the essential needs of our residents, including access to medication, food, and other necessities and while some travel is unavoidable, the best advice is “Don’t Travel”

It is crucial to prioritize the efficient clearing of roadways by the Street Department and County Highway crews. This coordinated effort ensures the swift and effective response of our public safety agencies in protecting essential travel during this critical time.
